A state historic site preserving the most complete surviving section of the original Erie Canal in New York State, at the point where the canal crossed the Schoharie Creek via the longest aqueduct ever built on the Erie Canal. The 624-foot stone aqueduct ruins sit along a scenic 2.5-mile linear trail connecting Fort Hunter to Yankee Hill Lock, with interpretive signs explaining the canal's construction and operation. Open year-round for hiking, cycling, and fishing. Free admission. Visitor center open seasonally.
