About the Almanac

I'm Devlin Foster, and I made the Hudson Valley Almanac because I kept wanting to know where the good stuff was. The farm with the honor-system egg fridge, the brewery at the end of a dirt road, the fire tower worth the climb. No single place had it all, so I started writing it down. Then I didn't stop.

Today the Almanac has more than 1,800 listings across the Hudson Valley, the Catskills, and the Capital Region: farm stands and orchards, meat farms and creameries, maple producers and cideries, markets, makers, feed stores, and the people who keep rural life running. Every listing is written in the Almanac's own words, and I check the links regularly and fix what's broken. Farther west, the Almanac has a sister site, the Mohawk Valley Almanac.

Free to be listed, always. Listings are free and will stay free. Some businesses may someday pay for extra visibility, like a featured spot, but anything paid will always be clearly labeled, so you'll know the difference.

Run a farm, farm stand, market, or small business in the region? Click Submit a Listing at the top of any page and fill out the short form: your business name, what you do, where you are, and how people can reach you. It only takes a few minutes. Every submission is checked before it goes live, and most appear by the next morning. And if you spot something out of date, click Report an Error and I'll fix it.

It's free, and it'll stay free. But servers don't run on enthusiasm, and neither do I (well, mostly enthusiasm, plus coffee). If the Almanac has saved you from a bad afternoon or sent you somewhere great, you can buy me one. It keeps the lights on, keeps me independent, and funds the next dirt-road detour.
