Family-run orchard and greenhouse established by the Hoffman family in Fonda in 1993, with the first apple harvest coming in 1996. Named for the ancient sandy lake-bottom soils of the Mohawk Valley that give the site its well-drained, apple-friendly growing conditions. Today operates over 4,000 apple trees in 12 varieties including Honeycrisp and Pixie Crisp, plus u-pick blueberries, sunflower patches, and seasonal vegetables. The farm store and bakery offer fresh-pressed cider, cider doughnuts, caramel apples, slushies, pumpkin soft serve, kettle corn, fudge, and pies. A corn maze, hayrides with Mohawk Valley views, and farm animals make it a full agritourism destination. Spring season runs greenhouses; summer brings berries and flowers; fall is prime apple and pumpkin season. The farmhouse on the property predates the Revolutionary War.
